mission

Our mission is to provide enrollment in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS), issue Common Access Cards (CAC) and/or official Identification Cards to all active, reserve and retired service members, service member families, and civilian and contractor employees. Additionally, we also provide diplomatic, official passports and no-fee passports for official travel.

Customer Service

 

In order to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and the flu; we ask that our customers practice social distancing and avoid coming in when sick. Walk-ins are welcome during normal operating hours however; we still prefer our customers utilize appointments as walk-in services are not always guaranteed depending on customer volume. Additional appointments will become available every Friday afternoon at 1330 for the following week.

ONE APPOINTMENT PER FAMILIY MEMBER REQUIRING SERVICE is requiredIf you do not book multiple appointments, only the person listed as the appointment holder will receive service, as we must adhere to a strict schedule.  Please keep your confirmation number for reference.  Only a five-minute grace period will be granted to late customers.

 

If you no longer wish to keep your appointment, please visit the website above to cancel, or call the ID Card Center at (703) 784-2750 for assistance, so that your appointment slot can become available for someone who needs it.

 

A DD FORM 1172-2 MUST BE COMPLETED BY THE SPONSOR FOR EVERY DEPENDENT ID CARD ISSUANCE AND ENROLLMENT.

CAC PIN RESETS (Blocked CACs) will be handled at the DEERS/ID Card Center.

 

If a system outage occurs on the day of your appointment, you will receive priority ticket to be used at a later date.

Be advised: Doors may close 15 min prior to advertised time depending on customer volume.

 

  • We ask for the safety of those around you that if you are displaying any symptoms of being ill or have had contact with anyone who’s tested positive for COVID-19, that you wear a protective mask or coordinate a visit for a later date. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who causes others to feel uncomfortable or concerned.

 Appointments

Appointments for CAC, DEERS and ID Cards

Appointments can be scheduled by phone or online at: https://idco.dmdc.osd.mil/idco/#/locator After you book your appointment, you will receive an email with your confirmation number and a list of conditions for attaining your ID card.  Please keep record of your appointment confirmation number, and read all of the conditions, as more than one might apply to your specific situation. Please schedule one appointment slot per each individual requiring service. Upon arrival, notify service counter about each scheduled appointment.  Appointments are available from 7:00 a.m. to 2:40 pm Monday through Thursday. During the COVID-19 pandemic, additional appointment slots will be made available to book on Monday mornings at 0830 via https://idco.dmdc.osd.mil/idco/#/locator for that corresponding week. Even with scheduled appointments, some customers may experience a wait due to a high volume of customers, system outages/processing, and complexity of service.  Please inform the service counter if your wait time exceeds 30 minutes.  We are closed for lunch from 12:00-1:00 p.m. however, we may close our doors at 11:40 a.m. to ensure we are able to process customers currently waiting. Only a 5-minute grace period granted to late customers. To cancel or reschedule your appointment, please call the center or visit: https://idco.dmdc.osd.mil/idco/#/locator Customers will need to know their confirmation number to cancel/reschedule an appointment.

 Walk-in Service

Walk-In services are available during our normal operating hours with the exception of days scheduled for TBS and MSG Students. This information can be found above under “Upcoming Events.” This office reserves the right to stop walk-in services at any time due to high customer volume or system outages.

 

Dependents - Does the Sponsor need to be present?

A properly verified and signed DD Form 1172-2 is required for all dependent enrollments/changes and dependent ID card issuance. The sponsor has the following options to complete the DD Form 1172-2 for their dependents:

  • Sponsor is present with their dependent(s) for ID issuance.
  • Sponsor can fill out DD Form 1172-2 at any DEERS/ID Card facility ahead of dependent's visit:  Please note, DD Form 1172-2 is only valid for 90 days from signature. 
  • Sponsor gives dependent General Power of Attorney (POA) and dependent presents original General POA at time of service.  The General POA must be original, valid, and unexpired.
  • Sponsor can digitally sign DD Form 1172-2 with CAC using RAPIDS Self-Service (RSS): https://www.dmdc.osd.mil/self_service/. Dependent will advise the front desk that the DD1172-2 was completed electronically by their sponsor.
  • If sponsor completes DD Form 1172-2 by hand, it must be notarized and signed by the sponsor. Dependent must present the original DD1172-2.

PLEASE NOTE: For college students aged 21-23, Sponsor must indicate that he/she "provide over 50% support " in Block 21 of the DD Form 1172-2.

Please refer to the lower left portion of the DD Form 1172-2 and note the date. The oldest version this office will accept will be dated "JAN 2014" Once signed, the DD Form 1172-2 is valid for 90 calendar days, and can only be used for one service visit.  Only the dependents listed on the DD Form 1172-2 can receive service as authorized by sponsor.

 Identification Requirements

 

Any individual aged 18 or over must present two forms of valid, unexpired (date on physical ID must NOT be expired. State exceptions are not permitted) forms of ID, one of which must be a photo ID.

 

Dependent children are eligible for their first ID Card at 10 years of age. Please ensure you bring the child(ren)'s original Birth Certificate and Social Security Card (cannot be laminated). For initial enrollment, please see Child and/or Step-Child – DEERS Enrollment under Resource Downloads.

 

For a list of acceptable forms of identification, please view the Identity Source Documents listed on right of this website.  Please call for further guidance to determine what is required for each particular situation.

 

 Documentation

All documents must be original or certified true by the custodian of the original document. All court documentation must be state or county certified stating that it has been filed and recorded in the courthouse. A notarized copy may not be considered a certified copy depending on the laws of the state that issued the original document. All foreign documents must be originals with an Apostille and translated in English. Please contact the Department of Foreign Ministry Affairs in the country of issuance or search the web for "Apostille certification & country" to obtain guidance. The embassy in which the country that the document(s) originates from may also be contacted for assistance. Photocopies of documentation are not authorized as proof of identification or eligibility.
