MCBQ Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) TAX CENTER IMPACTED BY MANPOWER CONSTRAINTS – WILL NOT PROVIDE TAX CENTER FOR 2019-2020

After years of decline in personnel available to serve as tax preparers, Marine Corps Base Quantico will not host a Tax Center for the 2019-2020 tax year.

Other military Tax Centers in the National Capital Region appear to have also been affected by similar factors. Information provided by the Tax Centers at Fort Belvoir and Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall indicates they may provide limited tax preparation services this year, limited to clients meeting certain income-based and residency-based criteria.

Please consult the Facebook pages and websites for the Legal Assistance Offices at Fort Belvoir and Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall for eligibility criteria of these Tax Centers during January 2020.

Free online tax preparation services and assistance is available to all active duty personnel and dependents, as well as to personnel who have left active service within the past year, through the Military OneSource MilTax program. Additional information concerning these services can be accessed at www.MilitaryOneSource.mil <https://www.MilitaryOneSource.mil/?fbclid=IwAR07KjrZ6UEUeRFjLC8CCn6BzASdLZ-0tIpkigVb8feON3zYuq0v8CTHj_A>  or at (800) 342-9647.

Information concerning other options for free or low-cost tax preparation services for military members, retirees and dependents will be provided, via our web pages and social media platforms, when it becomes available.
