•Operations Primary Duties     
–Two shifts of 25 personnel assigned daily.    
–All hazard responses; structure fires, wild-land fires,  hazmat, CBRN, EMS, Tech Rescue, Water Rescue
–Mutual aid response to adjacent jurisdictions    
•EMS Primary Duties     
–Two advanced life support ambulances    
–Two advanced life support engines    
–Public EMS awareness programs    
–Automatic external defibrillator program    
–Certification Compliance Emergency Medical Technician personnel    
–Department designated Officer (OSHA)    
•Prevention Primary Duties     
–Facility inspections & fire drills    
–Plan review & code compliance    
–System acceptance tests & hot work permits    
–Public fire education programs    
–Quality control  fire protection systems    
•Training Primary Duties    
–DOD, PRO Board, and state certifications    
–Manages emergency communications center     
–Branch Health and safety officer & injury/compensation manager    
–Responsible for communications & personal protective safety equipment  
     
QF&ES Firefighters and Firefighter Paramedics receive Fire, Technical Rescue, and Emergency Medical Training and are certified from DOD, Virginia State, and/or PRO BOARD certified. Many are National Registry Paramedic or EMTs. 
QF&ES currently operates 3 Fire Stations, consisting of (3) 1250 gpm Pumpers, (1) 105' Aerial Ladder Truck, (1) 75' Aerial Ladder Truck, (1) Heavy Rescue Truck, (1) Technical Rescue Truck, (1)Trench/Collapse Trailer, (1) Hazardous Material Unit, (1) Marine Service Support Unit, (3) Rescue Boats, (1) Fire Boat, (1) Spill-Response Trailer, (2) Ambulance Units, (5) Brush Units, (1) Mass Decon Trailer, (1) Light/Air Unit, (2) Polaris Brush Units.
QF&ES not only responds to structural fires, but also responds to all auto accidents, wood fires (brush fires), hazardous materials incidents, confined space/trench rescues, aircraft emergencies, water rescues, and medical emergencies. We perform standbys for controlled burns and training. We also respond with mutual aid to many of the local jurisdictions around MCBQ. QF&ES responds automatic aid with Stafford County and Prince William County Virginia. In 2011, QF&ES responded to a total of 2,670 emergency incidents.
