One hundred twenty-five, and growing, solar panel bobble head toys line the desk and bookshelf of Barbara Flores, legal administrative assistant with Quantico’s staff judge advocate office.

“I’ve got some for Valentine’s Day, Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving and Halloween,” she said. “I have a frog king, a musical circus, flowers and my favorite – a little Japanese girl.”

Flores started her collection a little over two years ago; some have been gifted by others. Most of the bobble heads cost less than $2 and can be purchased at discount stores. Fueled by the sun, some bobble constantly, while some take a “break.”

“It depends on the amount of light and how the light is directed on them,” said Flores. “Sometimes they don’t bobble at all, but I don’t care, I like them anyway.”
