Marine Corps Base Quantico in celebration of its Centennial Anniversary conducted a ground breaking event in order to place a time capsule in front of Lejeune Hall next to the statue of Lt. Gen. John Archer Lejeune memorial celebrating his more than 40 years of service to the corps. Memorabilia will consist of various items spanning the course of 2017.

Lt. Gen. Robert Walsh, commander of Marine Corps Combat Development Command, spoke at the ceremony saying that Quantico has evolved into a unique installation, a place where concepts and ideas are born and experiments are done influencing the entire Marine Corps. Walsh said he if the first years of Quantico are any indication, that great things are ahead for the Marine Corps as well as other military services, in the future.

"These Marines are a true blessing," Marilisa Porter, recycling manager at Quantico Marine Corps Base Recycling Facility said as Marines hauled an array of retired wood from around base in preperation for Earth Day, April 22. This was done to help Natural Resources and Environmental Affairs further beautify the base.
