Natural Resources and Environmental Affairs Division is actively working to establish a new contract for online management of dispersed outdoor recreational activities but will not have one in place for the start of hunting season on 3 September. NREA is anticipating a break in service and will implement new procedures to ensure orderly transition to physical check in system. Procedures will be posted at the Game Check Station (GCS) and on iSportsman site while the service is still active. Starting 3 September, all hunters will be required to come to the GCS to make reservations and check in and out to hunt. Each hunter will be issued a plastic hunting card that will be used to obtain colored daily hunting passes.
GCS staff will place hunters into colored customer categories. Active duty and their dependents will be placed in Green category. Retired military, retired military dependents, and MCINCR-MCBQ civilian employees will be assigned the Blue category. All other hunters will be placed in the Brown category. Early reservations for general hunting will be available on a first come, first served basis starting at noon at the GCS. Green category hunters will be allotted 70% of reservation passes per training area, Blue will receive 15% and Brown will be assigned the final 15% of reservations passes. Starting at 1600 any remaining passes in a color category will become available to all hunters. Early reservations for waterfowl blinds will be available on a first come, first served basis starting on 30 August at 1130 at the GCS. Color categories will receive the same quota of passes as outlined above. Green category waterfowl hunters will be served first in line followed by Blue and Brown, respectively. Once Brown is served, any remaining waterfowl blinds will become available to all hunters regardless of color category. A calendar will be published at the GCS to inform hunters which blinds are designated for each color category per day.
GCS is only conducting the waterfowl blind draw on 30 August. No other GCS activities will be conducted on this day. GCS will open at 0730 on 3 September to conduct all other GCS business.
All new and renewal MCB Quantico licenses will be issued at no cost until a new online license sales service is restored. These interim licenses will be issued at the GCS.
All outdoor recreational activities other than hunting will continue to use the iSportsman service. Additional information will be posted on iSportsman before the service expires and at the GCS.
