From left, Gen. James F. Amos, commandant of the Marine Corps; retired Sen. John Warner, retired Gen. Alfred M. Gray, Jr., 29th commandant of the Marine Corps; and Brig. Gen. William Mullen III, commanding general of Education Command and president of Marine Corps University, move the first shovels-full of dirt in the construction of the 129,000-square foot John Warner Center for Advanced Military Studies at a groundbreaking ceremony May 2, 2013. The building will be an extension of Marine Corps University and will house the Command and Staff College, the Marine Corps War College and the School of Advanced Warfighting.
