Marine Corps Air Facility (MCAF) conducted their annual required Full-Scale Exercise (FSE) this month using the Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting training device commonly refered to as the Mobile Aircraft Firefighting Trainer (MAFT) or burn bird.

During the Exceptional Family Member Program Fifth Annual Special Olympics Fun Field Day Meet athletes participated in an array of Olympics style sporting events to include the 50 meter dash in which two Olympians have taken the lead in front of their volunteer buddy.

"These Marines are a true blessing," Marilisa Porter, recycling manager at Quantico Marine Corps Base Recycling Facility said as Marines hauled an array of retired wood from around base in preperation for Earth Day, April 22. This was done to help Natural Resources and Environmental Affairs further beautify the base.

After a long day of work, Marines from Headquarters and Security Batallion in conjuction with the Single Marine Program traveled back to the Marine Corps Base Quantico Recycling Facility from the Potomac River shoreline to help Natural Resources and Environmental Affairs clean up the recycling facility.

$Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) uses the triage sytem to tag the four simulated Marine casualties. Red (Priority 1) is classified as serious, but a salvageable life threatening injury This includes victims with life-threatening injuries such as severe head injuries, burns, external/internal bleeding, heart attack, breathing-impairment or internal injuries. Yellow (Priority) is classified as moderate to serious injury or not immediately life-threatening. Victims have potentially serious injuries such as fractures. Green (Priority 3) Are classified as the walking-wounded or victims who do not appear seriously injured, which usually means delayed treatment/transportation Black is classified as deceased. Within this Full-Scale Exercise there were no black tags.$

Simulated third degree burns covered more than half of this Marine's body as he laid fully aware of the crash. He was the pilot of the aircraft. As his fellow Marines cried out to him, begging him not to move, the first responders banded him with a red ribbon, therefore classifing him as high risk, high priority.
