From left, Mr. Darryl R. Griffin, community plans and liaison officer, Marine Corps Base Quantico, U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Christopher J. Adams, sergeant major, Marine Corps Base Quantico, and Col. Michael L. Brooks, commanding officer, Marine Corps Base Quantico, pose for a photo during the annual Bluebell Festival at Merrimac Farm in Nokesville, Virginia, April 10, 2022. The Bluebell Festival began in 2008 after Marine Corps Base Quantico, the Prince William Conservation Alliance, and the Virginia Dept. of Game and Inland Fisheries with support from the Virginia Dept. of Conservation and Recreation formed a partnership to save and protect the farm. The farm sits on over 300 acres of wetlands and vernal pools, which is not only one of the most threatened habitats in the United States, but also creates the perfect area for thousands of bluebell flowers to grow and flourish.
