MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO, Va. -- [UPDATE as of 7:42 p.m.] Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) has given the all-clear. The MCX, Commissary, Seven-day store and McDonald's will be returning to normal operations. All gates and roads in the vicinity have been reopened.
This incident is currently under investigation with NCIS.

[UPDATE as of 7:21 p.m.] EOD has retrieved the suspected package and has given the all-clear. The package was not deemed to be a threat. PMO has opened the roadways and is continuing the work to open the remaining facilities.

A suspicious package was discovered at the Marine Corps Exchange (MCX) here on base at approximately 5:45 p.m. MCBQ Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) responded and is currently on-scene.
The MCX, Commissary, Seven-day store and McDonald's have been evacuated. Gate-4 and roads in vicinity of the MCX on Russell Road have been temporarily closed.
No injuries or damage to property were reported. This remains an ongoing situation.
