The unit recently travled from Camp Lejeune, North Carolina on a Professional Military Education exercise to celebrate their 100 year anniversary. Karen Pence, second lady of the United States previews the National Museum of the Marine Corps' Combat Art Gallery exhibit with Lin Ezell, director of the National Museum of the Marine Corps July 6. The works represent Marine experiences around the globe by artists who used their talents to tell the story of their fellow Marines, based in part on their own experiences and perspectives. Marines who particpated in the pugil sticks event, did so in honor of Lt. Weeden Osborne. Osborne was appointed a dental surgeon before being assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment. He was decorated posthumously with the Medal of Honor after his unit participated in an advance during the Battle of Belleau Wood.
