Mission

The Transition Readiness Program (TRP) provides exposures to opportunities in transition, career, and employment assistance to Active Duty (AD), Reserve Component (RC), and eligible family members through the Career Resource Center and online accessible services. The TRP ensures that Marines are prepared for their transition from military to civilian life and provides Marines and their families with the tools and resources needed to pursue Department of Defense (DOD) directed Career Readiness Standards (CRS).

Transition Readiness Seminar within 24 to 12 months of EAS

Important Notice
**Steps 1 and 2 must be completed before you can register for a TRS class date**
Step 1-Individual Counseling within 24-18 months of EAS
- Service members will...
  Service Members will contact their assigned Personal & Professional Development (P&PD) Advisor directly and schedule their Individual Counseling (IC) appointment. The P&PD Advisor is assigned by the first letter of the service member’s last name, see their contact information below:

  Plan for this appointment to last between 30-60 minutes. The service member will also need to bring their required pre-work and completed checklist with them to this appointment. Failure to do the pre-work will force P&PD Advisor to reschedule the service member’s IC appointment.

Step 2-Pre-Separation Counseling Workshop within 24-18 months of EAS
- ***Individual Counseling must be completed before Pre-Separation Counseling Workshop***
  
  The Pre-Separation Counseling Workshop will be scheduled at your Individual Counseling and is a mandated pre-requisite to Transition Readiness Seminar (TRS) registration. Completion of pre-work is mandatory and must be presented upon check-in at your scheduled Pre-Separation Counseling workshop, along with the “Pre-Work Checklist”.

Step 3-Transition Readiness Seminar within 14-12 months of EAS

  Must Choose a Track as Primary (First Choice) and a Track as (Secondary Choice)
  
  EMPLOYMENT: A workshop facilitated by the Department of Labor, which provides Marines with critical job search skills and tools for today’s current labor market to include resume writing, interviewing techniques, access to labor market information, and secure employment opportunities based on military experience and training.
  
  ACCESSING HIGHER EDUCATION: A seminar facilitated by P&PD staff which guides the Marine through the variety of decisions involved in choosing a college, degree program, the admissions process and funding options. The expected outcome is a Marine will have created a customized plan for a successful transition to a higher education institution
  
  CAREER EXPLORATION TRAINING TRACK (VOCATION): A seminar facilitated by the Department of Department of Labor designed for individuals interested in obtaining training in a trade or technical field in order to obtain a job. Similar to the Accessing Higher Education Track, this course guides Marines through choosing a career path and evaluating their needs such as comparison of institutions, requirements and eligibility for certification, licensure, apprenticeships, to create an individual plan for success.
  
  ENTREPRENUERSHIP (SUBSET OF EMPLOYMENT TRACK): Also referred to as “Boots 2 Business” is a 2-day seminar facilitated by the Small Business Administrating for service members interested in pursuing self-employment in the private or nonprofit sector. This course will teach service members about the challenges faced by entrepreneurs, the benefits and realities of entrepreneurship, and the steps toward business ownership.

CAPSTONE & COMMANDERS VERIFICATION within 6 to 4 months of EAS

Capstone Review
Once TRS is completed you will need to contact your P&PD Advisor to schedule your Capstone Review. Ensure you have your Company Capstone Designees email address on hand, and bring your Individual Transition Plan, your Gap Analysis, your budget, and your resume.

Commanders Verification (Capstone Interview)
Once your Capstone Review is completed with your P&PD advisor, then you will need to schedule your Commanders Verification (Capstone Interview) with your Company Commander. NOTE *This needs to be done at least three months out from your EAS*

Final step is to go back on the Milconnect website and save an electronic copy (PDF) of the finalized DD2648 form. Email a copy to HNS_BN_TRP@usmc.mil for the UTC to run TA/TZ codes, and one copy will need to be uploaded to your MOL Outbound Interview for when you start your check out process.
