Marine Corps Base, Quantico (MCBQ), Virginia, is a 58,000 ac active military training base located approximately 35 miles south of Washington D.C. MCBQ provides a variety of outdoor recreation opportunities, including Hunting, Fishing , mountain biking, trail running, firewood cutting, and wildlife viewing. Popular game species aboard MCBQ include white-tailed deer, wild turkey, largemouth bass, and black crappie. On the Mainside portion of MCBQ we have over 15 miles of maintained running and biking trails. Trail maps can be found at kiosks located at trailheads on the Mainside portion of MCBQ and here . Recently, a new archery facility was constructed, primarily by volunteers in the MCBQ Conservation Volunteer Program .

The Game Checking Station, building 5-9, will open for hunting license sales on Tuesday, 8 September, and will be open daily in September, Monday-Saturday, from 0800-1500.

Trout Stocking Begins March 11

The Natural Resources and Environmental Affairs Branch will be stocking trout from mid-March to early May in Chopawamsic Creek, weather permitting. The first stocking will occur off of Breckinridge Road from Gray’s Reservoir to Breckinridge Dam. Click here.
