Lieutenant Colonel Drew Cukor is a native of Southern California and a graduate of the University of Southern California (1992-BA), the Naval Postgraduate School (1997-MS), and the Joint Advanced Warfighting School (2014-MA).
Cukor has been a Marine Intelligence Officer for 22 years, and served in a variety of command and staff assignments. As a Lieutenant and Captain, he served as the Intelligence Officer of the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines and 7th Marine Regiment in the 1st Marine Division, where he participated in Operation Restore Hope in Somalia.
As a Captain and Major, he served as the Intelligence Officer of the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, II Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF). In this billet, he participated in operations in the Balkans, Task Force 58—the 2001 amphibious deployment and subsequent operations in southern Afghanistan, the 2003 attack and stability of Northern Iraq with Joint Special Operations Task Force-North (JSOTF-N) during Operation Iraqi Freedom, and stability operations in Monrovia, Liberia.
As a Major, he served as the Fusion Officer within the 2nd Marine Division, II MEF Tactical Fusion Center in Anbar Province, Iraq. As a Major and Lieutenant Colonel, he served as the Middle East Branch head, Marine Corps Intelligence Activity supporting I and II MEF in Iraq. In this billet, he designed and fielded the counterinsurgency intelligence Project LEGACY in Anbar Province, Iraq.
As a Lieutenant Colonel, he served as the Inspector/Instructor of the Intelligence Support Battalion, a 400 Marine Reserve intelligence battalion, and fielded the LEGACY program in Helmand, Kandahar and Kabul, Afghanistan. Also, as a Lieutenant Colonel he served as the branch chief, Intelligence Futures and Assessments, Intelligence Department, Headquarters Marine Corps.
Cukor is a Foreign Area Officer, Systems Analyst, MAGTF Planner, and Acquisition Officer. His personal awards include the Legion of Merit (one gold star), Meritorious Service Medal (two gold stars), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (one gold star), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon (one gold star).
