Henry Holstead Black during a wreath laying ceremony Nov. 10 at Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle, Va. Sergeant Major Black served as the seventh Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps from 1975 to 1977. During his career Black served as a drill instructor, recruiter and infantryman. His was deployed to the Dominican Republic, and the Korean and Vietnam Wars. World War II veteran, retired U.S. Marine Corps Maj. John Elliott lays a memorial wreath at the WWII memorial site on 70th Anniversary of the end of WWII at the Quantico National Cemetery, Aug. 16. The event proclamation from the Prince William Board of County Supervisors read: The WWII generation created an array of organizations which helped to strengthen the American democracy by promoting civic engagement, volunteerism, and service to the community.
