From the left U.S. Marine Corps Col. Jenny Colegate, the commanding officer of Marine Corps Base Quantico, Ashley Studholme, the executive director of the Prince William Conservation Alliance, and Tom Gordy, supervisor of the Brentsville District, pose for a photo at the annual Bluebell Festival at Merrimac Farm, Nokesville, Virginia, March 30, 2025. The Bluebell Festival began in 2008 after MCB Quantico partnered with Prince William Conservation Alliance, the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, and the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation to preserve the land and habitat for conservation purposes. The farm has over 300 acres of wetlands and vernal pools, which is one of the most threatened habitats in the United States and creates the perfect area for thousands of bluebell flowers to grow and flourish.
