From left: Dwayne Palermo, of Stafford, Va., Paul Pandolfi, of Manassas, Va., David Williams, of Spotsylvania, Va., Don Perry, of Stafford, Va., Charles McMahon, of Woodbridge, Va., Jimmy Thacker, of Stafford, Va., Aaron Darley, of Cordova, Ala., and Robert Starge of Pensacola, Fla., (Not photographed: Cliff Burton, of Stafford, Va., and Charles Stevens, of Spotsylvania, Va.) form the Marine Corps Base Quantico Mainside Station 531 Fire and Rescue team who responded to the second-floor apartment fire on 204 Broadway St. in the Town of Quantico, Aug. 20. At approximately 7:25 a.m. the firemen were the first responders to the fire, where they recovered four individuals. The fire started on the second floor of a bedridden elderly man. Preliminary reports indicate that there were many who fled the fire by foot. Once the fire was extinguished, the firemen recovered Frank Anthony DeSanto, age 69, and first responders pronounced him dead on the scene.
