Col. Joseph Murray, Marine Corps Base Quantico commander, presents Dancy Simons, hearings officer for the office of the Staff Judge Advocate, with her award for Senior Civilian of the Quarter for the first quarter of 2016 at a ceremony held at The Clubs at Quantico April 28. Simons was commended for adjudicating more than 357 traffic citations, providing counsel to 24 supporting commands as the subject matter expert on enlisted administrative separations, and creating a process by which military confinees can receive haircuts during their judicial proceedings.

Lloyd was commended for his hard work clearing the base of snow after three major snow events this winter.

Capt. Brad Williams stands with his son, Firefighter Stephen Williams, and grandson Clint, 2, at Fire Station 533 on the west side of Marine Corps Base Quantico. Brad Williams will retire from Quantico Fire and Emergency Services Apr. 29 after 21 years and four months. Stephen Williams started work for the department in January. He hopes to retire from Quantico as well.

Military Honors were rendered during an internment ceremony on May 3 at Quantico National Cemetery for 12 Veterans whose cremains were unclaimed. The honors were given by Marines from the Ceremonial Platoon, Marine Corps Base Quantico, along with soldiers from the Military Funeral Honors program, Fort A.P. Hill. The Missing in America Project (MIAP) claimed the cremains and coordinated the internment for the veterans from WWII, Korea and Vietnam.

Donations were accepted for the 2016 Headquarters and Service Battalion Field Meet at Butler Stadium in support of the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society active duty fund drive on April 14. The day included: a physical training log race, dizzy izzy, running of the ranks relay, tug-of-war, 50-meter tactical vehicle pull, flag football, and a two-man tire flip.
