Construction for Modern Day Marine Military Expo began this week with preparations underway to lay foundations for exhibitor tents going up on the parade field in front of Lejeune Hall. Modern Day Marine Expo will be held Sept. 22-24. Information about road and parking lot closures during construction are available at http://www.quantico.marines.mil/News/NewsArticleDisplay/tabid/10834/Article/616143/modern-day-marine-road-parking-lot-closures.aspx.

At approximately 7:25 a.m. the firemen were the first responders to the fire, where they recovered four individuals. The fire started on the second floor of a bedridden elderly man. Preliminary reports indicate that there were many who fled the fire by foot. Once the fire was extinguished, the firemen recovered Frank Anthony DeSanto, age 69, and first responders pronounced him dead on the scene.

The post organizations will prepare standardized switchovers to discontinue the cooling system in older buildings Oct. 1 in preparation for the Fall 2015. French has worked as a technician aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico for more than five years.

A collection of art prints from the era of World War II is filed in the Historical Reference Branch collection of records, artwork and photos. Teams of interns have worked with the oral history, film and Historical Reference Branch departments to digitize files. Their contributions include creating an inventory, cleaning and scanning files.

Tom Baughn, Marine Corps History Division historian, properly stores a film reel showing Marines, which will be used for a compilation to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. Baughn converts film into digital files, which can be viewed in DVD format. Hundreds of 16mm films are digitized here and added to the vast collection of works, which is available to the public.

Cpl. Joshua Horne, an infantryman stationed aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico, baits a fishing line during the final five hours of the Quantico Classic Fishing Tournament on Aug. 29. The 30-hour tournament began Aug. 28 at noon on the Potomac River in The Town of Quantico. The tournament is in its second year.
