During the scenario, four Marines dove into a pool and simulated spinal, neck and broken leg injuries. The MCITWS five-man team primarily organizes swim qualifications for lieutenants being trained at The Basic School, to include swim qualifications for the national capital region and the Marine Corps Water Survival Instructor Trainer Course.

Christian French, Facilities Maintenance Section HVAC technician, maintains the cooling and heating systems at Lejune Hall, Sept. 8. The post organizations will prepare standardized switchovers to discontinue the cooling system in older buildings Oct. 1 in preparation for the Fall 2015. French has worked as a technician aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico for more than five years.

A collection of art prints from the era of World War II is filed in the Historical Reference Branch collection of records, artwork and photos. Teams of interns have worked with the oral history, film and Historical Reference Branch departments to digitize files. Their contributions include creating an inventory, cleaning and scanning files.

Tom Baughn, Marine Corps History Division historian, properly stores a film reel showing Marines, which will be used for a compilation to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. Baughn converts film into digital files, which can be viewed in DVD format. Hundreds of 16mm films are digitized here and added to the vast collection of works, which is available to the public.

The 30-hour tournament began Aug. 28 at noon on the Potomac River in The Town of Quantico. The tournament is in its second year.

The ceremony, organized by U.S. Rep. Rob Wittman, Virginia’s first congressional district republican, honored Vietnam veterans from all the services and thanked them for their service.

As the roll call was part of ceremony dedicating a new memorial was held aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico Aug. 29. The new memorial displays each of the 567 names and is located at the National Museum of the Marine Corps.
