A pair of ospreys make themselves at home in their new nest adjacent to the mainside Wastewater Treatment Plant. After ospreys attempted to nest directly on the wires, which caused the death of at least one bird, two power failures and equipment damage, Facilities Maintenance Section workers built and installed an elevated perch for the birds to nest on in the same location. It took less than two days for the birds to start building the nest atop the perch after it was placed.

Special Olympics athletes and their buddies line up at the start of the 50-meter sprint during the “Meet in the Middle” held at Butler Stadium Saturday. Boys and girls of all ages and ability levels participated in the noncompetitive event, with all earning a dog tag-style medal and a snow cone at the end of the morning.

Marine veterans from 1st Raider Battalion, known as Edson's Raiders, gathered aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico for their final reunion April 16-18. The youngest veteran was 89, and the group lost 10 members in the last year. The veterans toured the Marine Corps Museum and Raider Hall and gathered together for several meals, including a closing banquet attended by the Col. David Edson, grandson of their first commanding officer, then-Col. Merritt Edson.
