Marine Corps Base Quantico Force Protection Exercise

3 May 2013 | Base Public Affairs Marine Corps Base Quantico

On May 9, 2013, Marine Corps Base Quantico will conduct a Force Protection Exercise in and around Quantico Middle High School.
The exercise will commence at 11:45 a.m. and last until approximately 4 p.m., though emergency response equipment and vehicles will begin to stage in the area around the school earlier in that morning.
QMHS has a pre-scheduled early release on that day, so no students will be in the school during the exercise.
It is essential that parents pick up their children immediately following release from QMHS and Russell Elementary School in order to avoid being delayed by exercise traffic and road closures.
During the exercise, Purvis road, from the Child Development Center (CDC) to the intersection of Purvis and Foster roads, along with the school grounds, will be closed to the public and base residents.
MCBQ residents can expect to hear blank rounds being fired, sirens and numerous police and fire/rescue vehicles as part of the exercise.
