UXO removal underway aboard Quantico

Technicians are currently clearing potential buried munitions from the area encompassing the now-demolished Russell Elementary School and the Child Development Center North aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico. The clearance work will ensure that construction of the new middle/high school to be built in that area in coming years can proceed safely.

NNOA to award scholarships at annual banquet May 20

The Quantico Chapter of the National Naval Officers Association (NNOA) will be holding its annual scholarship banquet at 6 p.m. on May 20 at the Clubs at Quantico. Five local high school graduating seniors will receive scholarships at the event. Once the scholarships are awarded, the Quantico chapter will have awarded $48,500 of need-based and academic scholarships to local students since 2012.

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was too old and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth the effort to retrieve the donkey. He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed shovels and began to shovel dirt into the well, burying the animal.
