The monument will be made of the FDNY’s last piece of World Trade Center steel and commemorates 17 New York City firefighters, who were also Marines. The steel will be brought from Brooklyn, New York on Oct. 4 and will be accompanied by approximately 800-1000 motorcycles in the final Iron and Steel Run. The convoy is expected to be approximately five miles long and may cause significant impact to traffic on Interstate 95. Virginia Department of Transportation will be closing the HOV lanes to accommodate the convoy which is expected to arrive at the National Museum at approximately 4 p.m. The dedication ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday and is open to the public. The ceremony will be preceded by a procession of motorcycles that will start at the Quantico Cooperate Center on Route 1 at 9:30 a.m. and terminate at the museum.
