QUANTICO MARINE CORPS BASE, Va. -- Let there be no confusion: 703‑784-2072 is the number to call for base emergency maintenance, 24/7.
“If you have an emergency maintenance issue on the base, that is the number to call,” said Kirk Nelson, director of Installation and Environment Division. “If we haven’t responded, it may be because we don’t know about it. Someone has to call and let us know in some instances.”
The base emergency maintenance should not be confused with the number for base housing emergencies. Lincoln Military housing emergency maintenance number is 1-888-578-4141.
During normal business hours from 7 a.m.-11:30 p.m., facilities maintenance will respond to emergencies almost immediately once notified. But, after hours from 11:30 p.m.- 7 a.m., calls are routed to an offsite location where a facilities manager will answer and call in support personnel when required.
“If a power outage is after business hours, we will respond within two hours, but during the day, we will get out to address the issue immediately,” said Darrel Davis, deputy facility manager.
Davis explained that they have the capability to respond almost immediately to emergencies during normal business hours, because they have personnel on base ready to respond.
On average, facilities maintenance receives three to four calls a week for emergency issues. Emergencies can range from water main breaks, water leaks in buildings, power outages or trees in the road.
“If you call 784-2072 and you do not get a person and you were not allowed to leave a message, that means there is a problem with our phone line,” said Davis.
Nelson explained there is a process and the phone may ring several times before the call is automatically transferred to the next phone line. In addition, workers are often in areas that do not have strong enough cell phone signals to accept calls.
“Our phone line is set up to go through five telephones before you would not get an answer, that’s 24/7. You have to wait and let the number ring multiple times, the phone can actually ring seven or eight times before it goes through the system, but our guys will respond,” said Davis.
