The Quantico Middle/High School girls soccer team played the Warriors of Grace Preparatory School out of Stafford on March 13, 2014, at Butler Stadium. This game was the first game of the season because the first two games had to be cancelled due to inclement weather.

“Everyone got a late start because of the weather,” said Kenneth Woody, head coach for the Quantico Middle/High School Lady Warriors soccer team. “Everyone had to deal with losing a few days of practice because of snow and rain. So, even though we didn’t have as much time to prepare, we still are going to play hard.”

And play hard they did.

Quantico came out determined to win and showed it by scoring five unanswered goals in the first half. Grace couldn’t seem to get control of the ball which resulted in most of the game being spent on the Grace side of the field.

After halftime, Quantico slowed down only slightly, allowing the ball to get as far as their goalie only four times. Even though Grace kept pushing, they couldn’t keep Quantico from scoring three more goals before the final whistle blew.

With the game over, Quantico had won decidedly 8-0.

Several Quantico players scored, with Caitlin, a sophomore midfielder, scoring three, earning her the first hat trick of the season.

“We came out and played hard today,” Woody. “Our goal was to have a good start to the season and I think we got just that.”
