With strategy and team work, the Warriors, Quantico Middle School basketball team, took the 54 - 22 win against the Dahlgren Tigers on Jan. 14, 2014.

Layup after layup, the Warriors put their practice to play leading them to victory in the sixth game of the season.

“Our guards could handle the ball more after a short break,” said Aaron, 13, point guard for the Warriors. “We were refreshed, ready to go and ready to win.”

Jesse Jones, the team coach, expresses why he thinks the team was successful.

“You have to plan together and you have to synchronize together,” said Jones, “and that’s what they did today.”

Although the Tigers got the jump ball, the Warriors managed to sweep them away, giving every player on the team an opportunity to play. The first half ended with Warriors on top 29-5.

“We put everyone in during the first half, so everyone got a taste of the game,” said Aaron.

The players returned from their half-time meeting area with even more confidence and determination to finish off the game.

Aaron said that they put a lot of pressure on the defense, keeping them in the lead.

“They played good defense. They always play good defense,” said Jones

Together, the Warriors defeated the Tigers. Every player left their blood, sweat and tears on the court.

“They were just besides themselves,” said Jones. “They felt good, but I also think they felt good with each other being able to share the ball.”

In the meantime, the team is preparing to face six more games in the regular season with a current record of 3 – 4.
