MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO -- Marine Corps Base Quantico and tenant activities will conduct Secretary of Defense-directed Sexual Assault Prevention and Response stand-down training for all Marines and civilians no later than July 1, 2013.
Headquarters and Service Battalion, MCB Quantico, will provide multiple SAPR stand-down training sessions June 17, 20 and 24 at Little Hall for all Marines and civilians assigned to the battalion.
Organizations outside of H&S Bn. are permitted to attend the training sessions with prior coordination and the approval of the commanding officer of H&S Bn.
Over the past year and a half, the Marine Corps has been actively engaged in the SAPR campaign plan. The Secretary of Defense-directed SAPR stand-down's mandatory actions include qualifications review and refresher training for Uniformed Victim Advocates and purposeful direct commander and leader engagement with service members and civilian employees on SAPR principles and the dignity and respect necessary in all workplaces.
Each session will include a video presentation from the Commandant of the Marine Corps, followed by discussion and review of Marine Corps values, leadership traits and bystander intervention. Sessions will also cover how to respond to victims of sexual assault and sexual harassment. Each session can accommodate up to 1,000 Marines and civilians.
Refresher training for Sexual Assault Response Coordinators, UVAs and Victim Advocates on professional ethics, their critical responsibilities and standards, and the impact on mission readiness for violations of standards must also be completed by July 1.
