David Maxwell, commander of Marine Corps Base Quantico, receives a picture from the annual Bluebell Festival at Merrimac Farm, presented in his office by Charles Grymes, chair of the Prince William Conservation Alliance, and Kim Hosen, the alliance’s executive director. The photo was presented May 9, 2013, as a token of gratitude for the personnel and information booths the base provides for the annual festival. The base holds an easement prohibiting development at Merrimac Farm Wildlife Management Area, which is owned by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, while the conservation alliance runs education and stewardship activities there.
