MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO, Va. -- The Little Hall Theater raised its rates Dec. 6 to support its new digital and 3-D capabilities.
Children under five years old will continue be free for both the 2-D and 3-D movie, children 6-11 are $3 for 2D and $4 for 3-D and 12 and above are $4 2-D and $5 for 3-D.
“The technical changes were made to the theater in November,” said Connie Witten, commercial recreation project manager, Little Hall Theater. “We wanted to give the patrons a grace period with the pricing though.”
Little Hall Theater isn’t the only theater to make changes. With the industry going completely digital, all theaters that want to stay in business had to make the change. Industry wide, movies will no longer be made into film copies.
“We had to make the change to stay in the business,” said Witten.
The change to digitization has improved the theater’s picture, color and sound quality.
“This is the second time we have been to the theater since they made the improvements,” said Paige, a stay at home mom. “There is a big difference in the quality. We have always enjoyed coming to the movies here; now it’s even better.”
The theater has two sizes of 3-D glasses and concessions available for patrons to purchase.
“We are able to give movie goers the same quality they would get out in town for a third of the price,” said Witten.
