Biography

Commanding Officer, Security Battalion, MCB Quantico
Lieutenant Colonel Denver M. Edick

Lieutenant Colonel Edick is a native of Enka-Candler, North Carolina. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in May 2005 following his graduation from Western Carolina University. Upon completing recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina, he attended Marine Combat Training at the School of Infantry, Camp Geiger, North Carolina. He was subsequently assigned to Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida, where he completed Avionics Warfare School, followed by the F/A-18 Avionics Warfare Specialist Course (O-Level).

He was then assigned to Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 212 (VMFA-212) at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan. In February 2007, Corporal Edick was selected for the Enlisted Commissioning Program and reported to Officer Candidate School in Quantico, Virginia. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 30 November 2007 and subsequently attended The Basic School.

Designated as a Military Police Officer, Second Lieutenant Edick completed the Military Police Basic Officer Leader Course at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He then reported to Security Battalion, Marine Corps Base Quantico, where he served as a platoon commander. Shortly thereafter, he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) 9.1/9.2 as a rifle platoon commander with India Company, 3rd Battalion, 24th Marines. While in Iraq, he was promoted to First Lieutenant.

Upon completion of his Iraq tour, he deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) 10.1, serving as the Officer-in-Charge of the Afghanistan Uniform Police Academy at Camp Leatherneck. Returning to Security Battalion, he served as the Battalion Operations Officer and was promoted to Captain in 2011.

In 2012, Captain Edick was selected for Presidential Security Duties with Marine Helicopter Squadron One (HMX-1), where he served as the Executive Officer and Operations Officer for the Military Police Company. In 2014, he reported to Headquarters and Service Battalion, MCB Quantico, as the Battalion Operations Officer. He was subsequently selected by the Commandant's Career-Level Education Board and attended the Military Police Captain's Career Course at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

Following his PME assignment, Captain Edick reported to the Provost Marshal’s Office at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, South Carolina, serving as Deputy Provost Marshal for both MCAS Beaufort and Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island. He was promoted to Major in October 2017.

Major Edick was selected for the Commandant's Professional Intermediate-Level Education Program and attended the Marine Corps Command and Staff College in Quantico, Virginia, earning a Master’s degree in Military Studies and Leadership. Following graduation, he was assigned to III Marine Expeditionary Force (III MEF) in Okinawa, Japan, where he served as the Force Protection Officer.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Major Edick assumed additional duties as the Commander of the Joint COVID-19 Response Center and Task Force SAFEGUARD, leading efforts to mitigate the outbreak among Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) personnel and assisting the Government of Japan in protecting the local population.

In July 2023, Major Edick became the Provost Marshal for Marine Corps Installations Pacific. He was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in September 2023 and was selected to attend Session 288 of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy. Upon graduation in December 2023, he returned to Japan.

In July 2024, Lieutenant Colonel Edick reported to MCAS Beaufort to serve as the Provost Marshal for both MCAS Beaufort and MCRD Parris Island. In June 2025, he assumed command of Security Battalion, Marine Corps Base Quantico.

Lieutenant Colonel Edick’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with four gold stars, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with one gold star, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
