U.S. Marine Corps officer candidates with Officer Candidate School conduct a 3-mile run during an inventory physical fitness test on Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia, May 28, 2026. The Marine Corps Physical Fitness Test is composed of pull-ups or push-ups, planks, and a 3-mile run to test physical strength and endurance. The inventory PFT serves to evaluate and screen individuals for their leadership, moral, mental, and physical qualities required for commissioning as a U.S. Marine Corps Officer.
