MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO, Va. -- The town of Quantico’s town office is moving.
On July 26, 2013, the town announced its first-ever purchase of a municipal office, to be located at 337 5th Ave., across from the town post office. The move to the new building is expected to be complete by the end of August.
“Really, it’s just another step in trying to take Quantico in the direction of a more professional, more established town,” said Quantico Mayor Kevin Brown.
Beginning next month, anyone living or working aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico who wants to visit the office regarding business with the town, such as buying property or starting a business in town, using the municipal park for an event, or paying a parking ticket should go to the new location, Brown said, adding that general comments or complaints will also be taken there.
Until then, the town office will remain at the Lillian Carden Community Center, 222 3rd Ave.
Since its incorporation in 1927, the town office has been housed in rented or donated space. When the building where it most recently resided was sold, the office had to temporarily move to the community center, a situation that Brown said necessitated the purchase of a permanent location.
“I think it’s going to work out financially, and we needed it,” he said.
The office’s phone and fax numbers will remain the same, as will its hours.
For updates on the move, as well as other announcements, Brown suggested visiting the town’s Facebook page.
