Marine veterans from 1st Raider Battalion, known as Edson's Raiders, gathered aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico for their final reunion April 16-18. The youngest veteran was 89, and the group lost 10 members in the last year. The veterans toured the Marine Corps Museum and Raider Hall and gathered together for several meals, including a closing banquet attended by the Col. David Edson, grandson of their first commanding officer, then-Col. A group of students attended that the sixth annual Education Symposium to answer a question asked of the them by educators. The symposium was hosted by Quantico’s school liaison officers and held at The Clubs at Quantico. The students came from both Quantico Middle/High School and off-base schools in the local area.
