On July 23, Col. Josephy Murray, commanding officer of Marine Corps Base Quantico, presented awards to civilian employees of the base who have reached length of service milestones, earned employee of the quarter and provided extraordinary assistance during the DoD Warrior Games.

Base employees recognized for superior service

On July 23, in a ceremony at The Clubs at Quantico, 10 civilian employees were awarded certificates for their length of service and meritorious performance of duties. Base Commander Col. Joseph Murray presented the awards with acting Base Sergeant Major, Sgt. Maj. Gerald Saunders and congratulated the awardees.

Receiving awards for ten years of faithful service were Ashley Richard, a G6 project officer; Patrick Giesen, a dispatcher for the Provost Marshal’s Office; and Robert Vanhorn Jr., the timing manager for the Marine Corps Marathon office. Beverly Rocker, the customer service manager for the Marathon office, was recognized for 30 years of civil service within the military community.

Angela Wright, the review chief for the Legal Service Support branch, was selected as the junior civilian of the quarter, and John Rolaf, the assistant operations officer for PMO, was selected as senior civilian of the quarter. Both recipients earned a $500 cash prize and 32 hours of leave time.

Five civilians were also honored for their exceptional service to the base community during the Department of Defense 2015 Warrior Games and the period leading up to the games. They were Douglas Rudy, facilities director; Gary Gutshall, Marine Corps Community Services operations manager; Edwin Ventura, safety and occupational health specialist from the base safety office; Gary Munyan, MCCS food and hospitality director; and Rolaf.
