A few dozen tiny versions of Elsa and Anna from Frozen, along with a variety of other characters such as Captain America, Iron Man, Minnie Mouse, and various princesses descended on Little Hall for the annual trick-or-treating event for preschoolers on Oct. 31. They were greeted on the front steps by firefighters in silver suits handing out candy. Inside the lobby and theater, numerous base organizations had displays and activities for children, with candy prizes for their efforts.

The Family Advocacy Program station offered children the chance to play the beanbag game corn hole to win candy. The Semper Fit representative offered a healthy alternative, presenting children with miniature oranges decorated like jack-o-lanterns as a prize for playing a rubber duck game. The plastic piggy banks given out by the Navy and Marine Corps Relief Society appeared to be very popular with the children.

Capt. Jared Siebenaler of Security Battalion helped coordinate the Provost Marshal Office’s support to the event, arranging for appearances by Darren the Lion and McGruff the Crime Dog. Siebenaler said PMO was present in each of the family housing areas for the official trick-or-treating hours later in the evening, with foot, vehicle and bike patrols there to “maintain security and pass out candy.” Though the working dogs were present as well, Siebenaler reminded people that they should not try to pet them.
