Photo by Eve Baker Download Details Share Quantico Middle/High School girls’ volleyball team wins conference championship 7 Nov 2014 | Eve Baker Marine Corps Base Quantico PRINT SHARE Marine Corps Base Quantico -- The Quantico Middle/High School girls’ volleyball team beat Foxcroft School of Middleburg, Virginia, in a home game to win the Delaney Athletic Conference championship match on Oct. 30. The victory capped off a winning regular season record of 17-3.The two schools played five sets, with the lead changing hands multiple times per set. Foxcroft won the first set, 25-19. Quantico took the second and third sets, with scores of 25-17 and 25-20. Foxcroft won the fourth, scoring 25 to Quantico’s 14, but Quantico clinched the critical fifth match, with a score of 15-12.QMHS senior Doneisha was presented with the conference player-of-the-year award after a unanimous vote by coaches and other conference participants. Doneisha has already earned a volleyball scholarship to Virginia Wesleyan College in Norfolk, Virginia, but said “I’ll go anywhere as long as I’m playing volleyball.” QMHS Coach Bob Hume, also the Advanced Placement Social Studies teacher at the school, was selected as coach of the year for the conference. Players Chyann and Olivia from QMHS, and Kathleen and Emma from Foxcroft were also recognized after the game for being selected to the conference’s first team. The victory qualified the team to compete in the state championships that began Nov. 4. QMHS played Holy Cross Catholic School in Lynchburg, Virginia.
