Stephen had a Homecoming he won’t soon forget.

The Quantico Middle/High School senior became football royalty at Butler Stadium on Friday night, delivering a key touchdown on the field to spark the Warriors’ 19-7 win over Rappahannock High School while also scoring off it as the school’s Homecoming King.

Stephen hauled in a 13-yard touchdown pass from quarterback T.J. to open the game’s scoring in the second quarter before joining Homecoming Queen, Aonjhne, for their coronation at midfield during halftime to highlight the school’s Homecoming festivities.

“Things couldn’t have gone any better,” Stephen said. “I was the Homecoming King and we won, so it couldn’t get any better.”

The game was the final varsity contest of the season for Quantico, which never trailed in closing its season at 2-6.

Sophomore tailback Caleb rushed for a career-best 111 yards to fuel a Warriors’ rushing attack that chewed up a season-high 196 yards on the ground. The effective ground attack paved the way for T.J. to add 128 yards and two scores through the air.

That proved to be more than enough offense for a Quantico defense that consistently delivered timely plays to stifle the Panthers’ spread offense. Senior Jacob, who was one of team’s four seniors playing their final game, added two interceptions, including one he took back 32 yards for a touchdown that closed the game’s scoring out with 1:38 left in the third quarter.

“I’m proud of their effort,” Warriors coach Paul Roy said.
