MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO, Va. -- The Quantico Middle/High School varsity football team beat the Massanutten Military Academy Colonels, during the first game of the regular season, 23-12, on Aug. 30, 2013, in Woodstock, Va., ending a winless drought that stretched back to Oct. 29, 2010.
“It was really determination,” said Mike Green, QMHS football coach. Green started coaching for the Warriors last year. “The kids never let down. The other team was a bigger and stronger team, but we outfought them and that’s what it came down to.”
After tonight’s game, the team is scheduled to play seven games before the state semi-finals and finals in October.
The Warriors next game is tonight at 6 p.m. at Butler Stadium where they are scheduled to play the Fredericksburg Christian School Eagles.
“We are going to go down and play football,” said Green. “I’m putting no limitations on this team.”
