Proud parents and friends of the Quantico Middle/High School Warriors came to see their athletes get awarded during the end-of-the-year Winter Awards ceremony at the school on Feb. 25.

At the end of every season, the school recognizes their students who compete on the sports teams. During the ceremony, the middle school boys’ and girls’ basketball teams, the varsity boys’ and girls’ basketball teams and the varsity cheerleading team were recognized.

Certificates were given to individuals on each team.  Plaques were also handed out to a select few including most valuable player award, the coaches’ award and the Warrior award. After the presentations, the coaches left the students with a few parting   words of wisdom and encouragement.

Roy announced that the Delaney Athletic Conference Division II Girls Basketball coaches named Marquis, Lady Warriors’ player, to the First Team All-Conference Basketball Team for the second consecutive year.

“My girls worked hard the entire season,” said Paul Roy, head coach, Lady Warriors. “I received plenty of positive feedback from other coaches whose teams we faced. They knew they were in for a battle when they faced us. We hustled until the end and that is the name of the game.”

Jaylen, co-captain, Warriors’ varsity team, wasn’t available to accept his certificate at the time but he was selected this past weekend by the Delaney Athletic Conference Basketball coaches to compete on the First Team All Conference Basketball Team and as the Division-II Player of The Year.

Anthony, co-captain, Warriors’ varsity team, was also selected to the First Team All-Conference Basketball Team and Naiko, Warriors’ player, was selected for the Honorable Mention team.

“We are very proud of the teams and their accomplishments,” said Michael Johnson, principal, QMHS. “Each of the teams showed a great deal of character and sportsmanship each and every game. Plus they gave it their all and had a wonderful time doing it. They definitely represented their parents and the community in an outstanding manner.”
