MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO, Va. -- From Thanksgiving to Christmas, the Marine Corps Base Quantico Band will give nearly 80 performances around the region.
“We do this every year,” said Staff Sgt. William Carr, euphonium player for the Marine Corps Base Quantico Band. “It’s one of the ways we can give back and impact our community.”
Different ensembles travel to locations on base, as well as events in the community to help spread holiday cheer.
Saturday the tuba and euphonium choir performed at the Marine Corps Exchange for more than 150 patrons who were there for a Toys for Tots event.
“We had the children singing and dancing,” said Carr.
The community isn’t the only ones who gain Christmas cheer from the performances.
“It’s a really good feeling to know you are putting a smile on people’s faces,” said Sgt. Kyle Woodworth, tuba player. “I just got here a few months ago, and I’m looking forward to the rest of our performances.”
Each week the Quantico Sentry posts the bands’ performances for the week on page A2.
