The intramural flag football base and champions, Manpower and Reserve Affairs’ “Black Ops” team, plans to continue their undefeated winning streak from last year, into this year’s season.

“We want the same record as last year,” said Cordera Mathews, Black Ops’ wide receiver, who is returning from last year. “We also plan to take the championship again.”

The team came to Butler Stadium during lunch Monday for a short practice and to spread time on the game plan for the first two weeks of the season.

“Our main focus this season is going to be on our defense,” said Joe Randall, Black Ops’ team captain. “I know our offense is going to make it happen, but we need to make sure we are play great defense all season long.”

Randall also plans to using the new football field to his team’s advantage.

“We can use the larger field to our advantage,” said Randall. “All we have to do is use our speed to push out to the sides and no one will be able to catch us.”

Although the team’ is ready to win their main goal for the season is to have fun.

“We always have a ton of fun,” said Randall. “It’s a bunch of guys who love the sport and are able to come out to play.”

Mathews attributes his teams wins and good times to the way his team treats each other on and off the field.

“We don’t ever have stupid fights or arguments,” said Mathews. “It’s easy to see how a teams frustration with each other and a game can cause them to lose. They stop focusing on the game. We don’t have any of that though, that’s why we win.”

Black Ops first game of the season will be at Butler Stadium on Tuesday at 8 p.m.
