First Sergeant Kristopher L. Privitar

First Sergeant Privitar was born in McAllen and was raised in Universal City, Texas. He enlisted in Marine Corps in August 2002, and completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego in November 2002. PFC Privitar was then assigned to Infantry Training Battalion, to receive his basic rifleman training and advanced training as an Anti-Tank Assaultman (0351).  PFC Privitar graduated School of Infantry West, Infantry Training Battalion, in March 2003, and was given orders to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division.

PFC Privitar then met with 2/4 during a deployment to Okinawa, Japan and was assigned to Weapons Company, Anti-Armor Section as a Javelin Gunner.  Shortly after returning the unit received orders to deploy in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) II.  The unit deployed to Iraq, in February 2004, and was the primary unit involved in the “Battle of Rhamadi”.  While on deployment Lance Corporal Privitar was trained as a Combat Aidsman, Designated Marksman, and assigned as the Team Leader.  Upon return in October 2004 the unit received orders to the pacific in support of operations within the Philippines in 2005 where he was the promoted to Corporal.

Corporal Privitar completed Marine Corps Combat Instructor School in April of 2006 and was assigned as an Instructor with Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry (W).  He was promoted to Sergeant while serving as a Rifleman Instructor with Bravo Company, Infantry Training Battalion.  Sergeant Privitar was then assigned as the Weapons Platoon Sergeant and Assaultman Instructor with Alpha Company, Infantry Training Battalion.  In April of 2009 Sergeant Privitar received orders to the Fleet Marine Force to join 1st Battalion, 3D Marine Regiment, 3D Marine Division.

Sergeant Privitar was assigned to Bravo Company, 1st Battalion 3D Marines as the Assault Section Leader.  1st Battalion 3D Marines then deployed to Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), where the unit took part in Operation Moshtarak within Marjah.  Upon return of the deployment Sergeant Privitar was then assigned to Weapons Platoon, where he served as the Weapons Platoon Sergeant, and was then assigned to Charlie Company.  While with Charlie Company he was promoted to Staff Sergeant and remained assigned as the Weapons Platoon Sergeant.  1st Battalion 3D Marine Regiment was then tasked to deploy to Helmand Province, Afghanistan, where he simultaneously served as Weapons Platoon Sergeant and Foreign Advisor.

Upon returning from the deployment Staff Sergeant Privitar received orders to III MEF Special Operations Training Group (SOTG) in Okinawa, Japan.  Staff Sergeant Privitar served as the Helicopter Rope Suspension Techniques (HRST) Instructor, as well as the Amphibious Raids Chief Instructor. He was also responsible for conducting training and evaluations with infantry battalions for their Marine Expeditionary Units Special Operations Capable (MEUSOC) qualifications.

In August, 2015 Staff Sergeant Privitar executed orders to 3D Battalion, 23D Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division as a part of the Instructor & Inspector (I&I) Staff for Lima Company.  While on the I&I Staff his duties include serving as the Operations Chief and Company Gunnery Sergeant.  While serving as the Company Gunnery Sergeant with Lima Company he deployed to the Helmand Province, Afghanistan, in March 2018 supporting Task Force Southwest as the Security Force Company.

In May 2019, Gunnery Sergeant Privitar attended the Marine Corps Embassy Security Guard (MCESG) Detachment Commander Course and Graduated in July, 2019.  Upon graduation he then reported to MSG Security Augmentation Unit where he served as a Detachment Commander until he was promoted to his current rank of First Sergeant in February 2020.

March 2020, First Sergeant Privitar executed orders to Security Battalion located on Marine Corps Base Quantico where he currently serves as the Battalion Sergeant Major.

First Sergeant Privitar’s personal awards include the Purple Heart Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Combat Device and two gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with one gold star, Combat Action Ribbon, and is also the recipient of the Governor of Alabama Outstanding Military Service Member Award.
