Cut-your-own Christmas greenery permits are available to active duty, reserve and civilian employees stationed aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico with a valid identification. There is no charge, but a permit is required. Cutting Christmas trees is not permitted.

Cutting greenery is permitted only on Dec. 8, 15 and 22, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., in designated areas shown on maps.

To obtain authorized entry to the training areas for greenery gathering, you must first sign in (self check-in procedure) at the Game Weigh-in Station across from the Hunter Check-Out Station, Bldg. 5-9.

After signing in, take a permit and print your name at the top. This permit must be presented to the sentry post guard along with a valid identification card, verifying your status as a civilian or active/reserve military stationed aboard MCB Quantico. This permit must be visibly displayed in the windshield of the permit holder’s vehicle. Permit holders must return to game weigh-in station and sign out prior to 4 p.m.

Cutting greenery is permitted only along the roadsides of the designated areas. Greenery such as pine and holly boughs, cones, running cedar, etc., may be taken from the designated roadside areas, but no further than 100 feet from the edge of the woods.

While in the field, permit holders are advised to leave any and all ordnance alone. Any ordnance spotted should be flagged and reported to the personnel at Range Management, 703-784-5321.

For information, contact the Quantico Forestry Office at 703-432-6775 or 703-432-6779, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
