Marine, Gunnery Sergeant Craig J. Wilcox was awarded the Grateful Nation Award Nov. 29 at ceremonies held at the Marriott Marquis in Washington, D.C.

The award, established in 2003 by the Jewish Institute for National Security for America, is presented annually to six young heroes recognized for having distinguished themselves through superior conduct in the War on Terrorism. Honorees are chosen by their respective service and come from the enlisted, noncommissioned officer and junior officer ranks. Honorees represent each of the five branches of the U.S. military and the U.S. Special Operations Command. GySgt Wilcox was the Headquarters and Service Battalion’s nominee and he was selected to receive the award. They read a brief citation noting a few of the many incredible things Wilcox has done in his time.
