Lieutenant Colonel Roach was commissioned in May 2001 upon graduation from the United States Naval Academy and was designated as a military police officer upon completion of training.

His operational assignments include: Physical Security and Tactics OIC and Operations Officer, Marine Corps Security Force Training Company, Marine Corps Security Force Battalion; Police Transition Team OIC, Habbanyia, Al Anbar, Iraq (Operation Iraqi Freedom); Force Protection Officer, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (two Landing Force 6th Fleet/5th Fleet deployments); Law Enforcement Advisor, Battalion Landing Team 3/8  (Operation Enduring Freedom); Engagements Officer, G-3/Current Operations, II Marine Expeditionary Force; Operations Officer and Executive Officer, 3d Law Enforcement Battalion; Civil Affairs Detachment OIC, G-3/Force Fires, III Marine Expeditionary Force (Operation Sahayogi Haat).

Lieutenant Colonel Roach’s supporting establishment assignments include service as: Officer-In-Charge Camp Kinser and Camp Foster, PMO and Assistant Operations Officer, Camp Butler PMO, Okinawa, Japan; Plans and Policy Officer, Law Enforcement and Corrections Branch, Security Division, PP&O; Aide-de-Camp to the Deputy Commandant for Plans, Policies, and Operations, HQMC; and was dual-hatted as the Commander, Security & Emergency Services Company and Provost Marshal, MCB Camp Lejeune.  He assumed command on 14 June 2019.

His professional military education includes the following: The Basic School; Expeditionary Warfare School; and U.S. Marine Corps Command and Staff College.
