2nd Lt. Jacob Sparkman is fitted with the Augmented Immersive Team Trainer prior to a briefing about the new technology for Gen. Robert Neller, commandant of the Marine Corps, aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico on Nov. 5. The AITT, developed by the Office of Naval Research, allows Marines to transform any location into a dynamic training ground by injecting virtual images, indirect fire effects, aircraft, vehicles, simulated people, etc. onto a real-world view of one's surroundings.
