MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO, Va. --
Brigadier Gen.
Austin Renforth, commanding general, Training Command, presented Erinn
Izykowski, command sexual assault response coordinator, with the Marine Corps
2015 SARC of the Year award in a ceremony at Mitchell Hall, The Basic School on
March 26.
Training Command
is responsible for occupational entry-level training as well as career progression
for the Marine Corps which comprises 6,500 permanent personnel and over 62,000
student personnel across the United States located onboard Marine Corps, Navy,
Army and Air Force installations.
Izykowski was
promoted to SARC for Training Command March 9, 2014, as such she concurrently
serves as the Headquarters SARC and as the command SARC for five of the 18
colonel-level Major Subordinate Element commands within Training Command. This
places her over 130 Uniformed Victim Advocates.
According to her
nomination, Izykowski expanded and improved communication specifically in
restructured data collection and assisted in more effective case transfers
within Training Command and between military branches to improve victim care.
She does more than
ensure the assailant gets the proper punishment, Renforth said.
“Izzy ensures the
victim gets proper care,” he said.
“In her efforts to produce a robust SAPR
program, Mrs. Izykowski proactively engages commanders at all levels ranging
from MSE colonel-level commanders, Marine Detachment major-level commanders,
and Formal Learning Center captain-level commanders,” according to the
nomination by Col. Timothy Armstrong, chief of staff, Training Command.
“She also
supported the developing prevention campaign created by the Marine Corps Combat
Support Service Schools, who later received the inaugural Department of Defense
Sexual Assault Prevention in Innovation Award,” according to Armstrong.
As a direct result
of her dedicated efforts, in November 2014, Mrs. Izykowski received the
Inspector General’s coin for Superior Performance. Specifically, Mrs. Izykowski was recognized
for her impressive and transparent relationships amongst subordinate commands,
effective organizational capabilities, and incomparable program management of
Training Command to include 18 colonel-level MSEs and their respective 74 FLCs.
“It is evident that Mrs. Izykowski is
passionate for serving victims of sexual assault, this command, and the greater
Marine Corps,” said Armstrong. “In the past year working with Mrs. Erinn
Izykowski, we as a command have a greater understanding and appreciation for
the SAPR program and how to better serve our victims. She has been an asset to
this command and greater program.”
Her selection was
announced in Marine Administrative Message 113/15, which was signed by Brig.
Gen. Russell Sanborn, who was also in attendance.
