Renovations at Crossroads Inn aboard Quantico nearly complete

The Crossroads Inn aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico is nearly done with the first phase of a multi-year renovation. The efficiency wing, which consists of rooms and suites with kitchenettes, is the first wing of the hotel to be renovated, and to date, 41 of 48 rooms have been fully renovated. General Manager Almaz Dawson expects the remaining rooms to be completed by the end of January.

The efficiency wing was built in 2002 and, according to Dawson, has not been updated since. During the renovation, the walls in the rooms were stripped of wallpaper, sanded and repainted in light, neutral colors. The burgundy carpets were removed and replaced with new carpets in shades of blue and silver, and all furniture, bedding and artwork was replaced. The flooring in the kitchenettes and bathrooms was replaced as well. Dawson said the new color scheme, furniture and artwork are in accordance with Inns of the Corps standards, a set of guidelines meant to standardize temporary lodging facilities Marine Corps wide.

Dawson said the hotel was built in 1997, and though some areas were renovated in 2007, she hopes to have everything renovated to the same standard as the efficiency wing in the next few years. The next project to be completed is a new playground behind the building, as the current one consists of only one piece of climbing equipment with a small pad underneath.
