Intramural basketball on Marine Corps Base Quantico resumed at Barber Physical Activity Center on Jan. 22, 2014.

Three games were postponed the day prior due to inclement weather. Robert Anderson, the intramural sports director, said that all games are planned around holidays, but when weather interferes with a schedule, a different course of action is taken.

“We know that Quantico will normally have snow days in January, February and March, so for that we always have Fridays as make up days for games,” said Anderson.

The Enlisted Instructor Platoon versus Marine Corps Air Facility; Headquarters and Service Battalion Finance versus Weapons Training Battalion; and Marine Corps University versus Motor Transport games were postponed, but the Marine Helicopter Squadron One versus Officer Candidate School, and Naval Health Clinic versus Marine Corps Embassy Security Groups games went on as scheduled.

HMX-1 won 41-34 and NHC won 39 to 38. The Manpower Management Support Branch versus Marine Corps Intelligence Activity was postponed due to insufficient players.

“I don’t think the snow affected us too much,” said Cpl. Jonathan Morales, aviation operations specialist for HMX-1. “We came out here with a game plan, executed it and came out with a victory.”

Even though Fridays are added to the schedule, the last day of the season remains the same for now.

“It does affect the season, but that’s why we use Fridays as make-up days so that way it won’t make the season longer,” said Anderson.

The games that were postponed due to the weather have been rescheduled for March 7, 2014.
